International diabetes Wound Institute (IDWI)
The IDWI (International diabetes Wound Research Institute) team has accumulated more than 100 years of experience in diabetes, wound and foot care. The organization is composed of a group of doctors who are keen to improve the prevention and treatment of diabetes wounds worldwide by educating medical providers around the world. Among them, many staff members are faculty members and lecturers in medical schools, with many years of experience in cultivating world medical and scientific leaders, as well as visiting doctors, nurses, and scholars from around the world. Their faculty members also include authors who have published papers in well-known journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet, and they are often invited to give speeches at home or abroad
IDWI's wound prevention and management methods for diabetes are multidisciplinary, including experts in the following fields: endocrinology, wound care, podiology, vascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, wound care products and wound center management
IDWI was established in Longwood Medical District, Boston, USA in 2019. It is the world's leading resource area for diabetes wound treatment. It is jointly established by top doctors and lecturers in related fields. Its purpose is to bring together doctors with years of experience in diabetes patients and provide world-class courses and training plans
Course objectives
1. Understand general wound physiology and be able to apply it to patients with diabetes
2. Understand the impact of different types of wounds on the physical condition of patients with diabetes
3. Be able to clinically evaluate the wound and determine the etiology
Develop a wound care plan based on the etiology and characteristics
5. Learn basic foot medicine and related factors related to diabetes wounds
6. Learn basic foot care: properly care for skin, nails, and blood circulation
7. Understand the comprehensive examination of diabetes foot
Learn to use standard procedures to record wounds
9. Understand wound dressings and when to use different dressings
10. Learn unloading techniques for pressure wounds
11. Learn the detection of lower limb circulation vessels
12. Understand wound technology: biological products, wound vacuum cleaners, and hyperbaric oxygen
13. Help reduce the incidence of complications of diabetes foot
14. Help reduce the number of patients requiring surgical intervention
Successful completion of this course can lead to the certification of a diabetes wound expert
