Magnetic Nursing Training Program in the United States
Project Background
The Nurse Certification Center (ANCC) established by the American Nursing Association (ANA) established a nationwide project to improve quality nursing services in 1992, known as the "Magnetic Certification Project". Hospitals that have passed magnetic certification are known as "Magnetic Hospitals.". The development of magnetic hospitals has a history of more than 30 years, which was proposed by American scholar McClure in the 1980s
The magnetic certification standard includes five aspects and 14 elements: transformational leadership (nursing leadership quality, management style); Organizational empowerment (organizational structure, personnel systems and plans, hospitals and communities, nurse image, professional development); Model professional practice (professional nursing model, consultation and resources, autonomy, educational role of nurses, multidisciplinary cooperation, nursing quality); New knowledge, innovation, and improvement (quality of care); High quality empirical results
Project significance
The management philosophy of magnetic hospitals in the United States puts medical institutions in a sustainable state of benign competition, making the organizational structure more reasonable and effective in supporting medical personnel to provide the best care. Nurses work in such an environment with high enthusiasm and satisfaction
At present, in addition to holding administrative positions, clinical nurses in China have little room for professional development. The magnetic hospital model in the United States suggests that we should focus on improving the social status and professional values of nursing personnel, create a new image of nurses, serve the society, and improve the overall quality and nursing level of nursing teams through the development of advanced practical nursing teams, thereby promoting the development of nursing disciplines
Magnetic care has the following 5 characteristics:
Sufficient manpower and human scheduling
Career development, extending in all directions
Multicultural, unobstructed communication
Patient safety, layer by layer control
Teamwork, holistic healthcare
"Magnetic nursing" attracts excellent nursing personnel to hospitals, provides a humane and pleasant atmosphere for employees to work, and allows professional employees to serve patients
