National Academy of Medicine

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) was founded in 1970 as the Medical Research Institute (IOM) is one of the three colleges of the National Academy of Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as the National Academy of Sciences) in the United States. According to the National Academy of Sciences, 1863 The National Academy of Sciences is a non-profit private institution that operates outside the government and provides objective advice on scientific, technological, and health issues.

The National Academy of Medicine is:

An independent, evidence-based scientific advisor. In order to carry out our work, we utilize the talents and professional knowledge of accomplished and thoughtful volunteers, and adopt meticulous processes to avoid and balance biases. The basic goal of medical schools is to become the most reliable source of scientific and policy advice on human health issues.

A national college with a global perspective. Has a wide range of responsibilities and collaborates with organizations around the world.

Committed to promoting internationalization actions and generating impact. Collaboration and interdisciplinary. NAM cooperates with the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and other organizations to give play to interdisciplinary and domain expertise to promote science, medicine, technology, and health.

Honorable society for outstanding leaders. NAM has over 2000 members, selected by peers to recognize their outstanding achievements. Through a commitment to volunteer service, NAM Members assist in guiding work and advancing the mission of NAM and the National Academy of Sciences.

Academicians of the National Academy of Medicine are considered as the highest honor of scientists in the medical field. Every year, the National Academy of Medicine selects 65 new academicians and 5 new foreign academicians among professionals who have made outstanding contributions to medicine, public health and other fields. Academicians implement the lifelong system and are mainly responsible for providing advice, prevention and other suggestions to the U.S. government, as well as engaging in affairs related to global health. As of October 2019, the National Academy of Medicine has 2302 members, including 192 international foreign members.
