Founded in 1874, VUMC is an affiliated hospital of Vanderbilt University, a comprehensive hospital with all Teaching hospital. It has many campuses in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the largest academic medical center in South Central United States.

VUMC is an independent non-profit organization, but it maintains academic ties with Vanderbilt University.

VUMC covers 9 hospital systems and 48 hospitals, clinics, and affiliated institutions, covering an area of 41000 square meters, providing services for a wide range of patients.

With 19600 employees, 2 million patients visit every year, performing over 35000 surgical procedures, and treating 65000 patients in the emergency room.

In the latest annual ranking by US News and World Report, VUMC ranks 19th overall in the United States. It ranks among the top in the country among 9 adult specialties and 10 pediatric specialties, with 4 adult specialties and 16 surgeries rated as excellent.

VUMC is famous for its pioneering achievements in the award-winning Teaching hospital and electronic medical records (such as eMERGE system, which uses Gene pool data to facilitate clinical discovery).

In April 2016, Vanderbilt University and VUMC became independent organizations in terms of law and finance, but maintained cooperation. VUMC clinicians also served as faculty members of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and School of Nursing.

In 2022, Vanderbilt University ranked 14th in the United States. It is one of the few outstanding universities in the south, and is as famous as Duke University and Emory University. Its strong majors include education, medicine, nursing, business, etc.

PHA is the world's largest organization for pulmonary hypertension, founded in 1991. In the past few years, the leadership committee of the association has been actively developing a certification program for pulmonary hypertension treatment projects to improve the quality of care for patients with pulmonary hypertension.
