Necrotizing enterocolitis and biliary vomiting are complex issues in neonatal intensive care that often come with high risk and uncertainty. This workshop will explore how to effectively reduce the risk of these serious conditions through early identification, clinical evaluation, and innovative management strategies. Dr. Block will share his latest research and clinical experience to help caregivers better address these challenges.

Keynote speaker
Dr. Burak Salgin
Consultant neonatologist, Royal London Hospital
Emeritus Professor of Advanced Neonatal Practice, Queen Mary University of London
Burak is a consultant neonatologist at the Level 3 Neonatal Surgery Unit at the Royal London Hospital and the London Neonatal Transfer Service. He is also head of the Master of Science in Advanced Neonatal Practice at Queen Mary University of London.
Burak completed his medical degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge and did postdoctoral research in Pediatrics at the University of Cambridge. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (Higher Education).
As head of the Master of Science Program in Advanced Neonatal Practice, Burak has taken on tremendous responsibility in creating and delivering engaging distance learning programs. He helps nurses prepare for the role of senior neonatal care practitioner. The course is at Queen Mary University of London and its partner Barts Health Set up in an NHS Foundation trust with an innovative curriculum. Burak is also an active educator, responsible for mentoring multidisciplinary master's and doctoral students.
Research Interests:
Burak leads a multidisciplinary team of researchers working to develop hardware and software solutions to improve neonatal cardiorespiratory monitoring. His team is also working with other projects that aim to risk stratify neonatal cases of necrotizing enterocolitis and biliary vomiting.
