2023 International Health Cooperation Conference (IHCC) - Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital Special Session

On June 2nd, the 2023 International Health Cooperation Conference (IHCC) - Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital Academic Special Session was successfully held. The head of the International Medical Department and Cooperation Department of EVO Medical accompanied three top foreign university experts - Jennifer, a member of the American Academy of Medical Sciences, Vice President of the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, and Professor of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Professor Grandis, academician of the American Academy of Sciences, professor of genetics of Harvard Medical School, editor in chief of Genomics, member of the editorial board of the New England Journal of Medicine, Professor Raju Kucherlapati, and CEO of the Miami Cancer Institute Mark A Mr. Davis visited Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital. The President of Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Ge Minghua, attended the reception with personnel from the Scientific Research Department, International Exchange and External Liaison Department, Head and Neck Surgery, Pharmacy Department, and relevant departments of Genetics and Genomics Medicine.

Dean Ge Minghua welcomes the arrival of all experts and hopes that through a brief exchange for half a day, all experts will have a preliminary impression of Zhejiang People's Medicine and conduct discussions based on the advantages and platforms of both parties to promote potential cooperation in the future.

Professor Grandis stated that as a typical representative of transitioning from a clinical doctor to a scientist, it is crucial to find good partners, build a transformation platform, and ensure that every patient has access to the most suitable clinical trial resources. Professor Raju Kucherlapati also pointed out that Harvard Medical School attached great importance to translational medicine and also set up a special master's degree in translational medicine research. The future development of Precision medicine is also expected to integrate all information of patients including gene level, which is conducive to better understanding of tumors and other diseases, and provide personalized treatment. Mr. Davis also suggests establishing specialized institutions within the hospital to engage in translational medicine research, concentrate patient resources, and provide precise services.

Dean Ge stated that currently in China, there are many patients in need, but very few are truly included in the study. As a regional medical center, we have the responsibility to build a transformation platform, integrate medical resources, involve doctors and patients, and provide personalized medical services. Chief Ge further proposed that Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital could send doctors to Harvard Medical School to study translational medicine, and at the same time, cooperate with various expert institutions to establish a demonstration translational research workshop in China, which was unanimously approved by the other party.

Subsequently, the three experts also held a special lecture in the international conference hall. Huang Ping, Director of the Pharmacy Department, Zhang Yiwen, Deputy Director, Xu Jiajie, Director of the Scientific Research Department, Zhu Jing, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and External Liaison Department, Wang Zhifei, Deputy Director, Mou Xiaozhou and Zheng Guowan, Executive Vice Directors of the Clinical Medical Research Institute, Xin Ying, Deputy Director of the Head and Neck Surgery Center of the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Center, and Chen Xiaopan and He Xujun from the Department of Genetic and Genomic Medicine participated in the reception.

This special session promoted the exchange and sharing of experience between Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital and the world's top medical centers. Both sides exchanged ideas and enhanced understanding through the EVO medical platform, exchanging cutting-edge international information, and making beneficial explorations to further accelerate and deepen the internationalization development process of hospitals, enhance their own medical technology level and research and teaching capabilities, and better promote the development of the medical industry.
