Singapore General Hospital

Singapore Central Hospital (SGH) is the largest hospital in Singapore. It provides specialized care for patients, provides training for doctors and other healthcare professionals, and provides better care for patients.

SGH is a non-profit organization, wholly owned by the Singapore government, and is the flagship hospital of the public health system. SGH is a member of the SingHealth healthcare institution cluster.

Hospital Composition

The Singapore Central Hospital Medical Park consists of the Singapore Central Hospital and many sister hospitals under the Singapore Health Service System, including the National Heart Centre Singapore, National Cancer Centre Singapore, National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore National Eye Centre National Dental Centre Singapore and Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore.

This medical park provides 42 specialized services, including advantageous disciplines such as hematology, nephrology, nuclear medicine, orthopedics, pathology, oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and burn and plastic surgery. Teaching Hospital

SGH is a leading teaching hospital that provides undergraduate medical training as well as graduate and advanced training for specialists, nurses, and full-time medical personnel.

The majority of students from the National University of Singapore's Yang Luling School of Medicine, Duke National University of Singapore School of Medicine, and Lee Guangqian School of Medicine are studying courses at the Singapore General Hospital. The medical staff of the hospital hold teaching positions in both schools.

It also provides clinical teaching hospitals for student nurses, radiologists, and therapists from polytechnics and medical institutions here and in the Asia Pacific region.

Patient oriented research

SGH strives to bring new and better care and treatment to patients through research.

The clinical study was SGH An integral part of institutional practice is actively carried out by clinicians and scientists from medical, nursing, and related health departments. The hospital utilizes multidisciplinary capabilities, depth of expertise, a vast patient base, and research links with local and globally renowned centers.

The hospital collaborates with Duke National University of Singapore Graduate School of Medicine, an academic partner located on the SGH campus, with the goal of developing the campus into a center for translational and clinical research.

Medical Training and Scientific Research

The goal of the hospital is to build the Singapore Central Hospital Medical Park into a global center for translational medicine and clinical research. Hospitals regard clinical research as an indispensable part of medical practice, and improve the quality of medical treatment and teaching by establishing patient gene banks and clinical data centers. So far, the funding for scientific research has exceeded 1.2 billion Singapore dollars (about 6 billion yuan).
