Recently, the "2018 Sino US Health Cooperation Forum and Sino US International Forum on Rehabilitation Medicine Development" opened in the the Taihu Lake International Conference Center in Suzhou

This main forum is hosted by the China Hospital Association and Jiangsu Provincial Hospital Association, and hosted by Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, Suzhou Health and Family Planning Commission, and EVO Medical

The honorary chairman of this sub forum on rehabilitation medicine is Professor Li Jian'an, an international academician of the American Academy of Medical Sciences, and the director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital. The executive chairman is Professor Wang Tong, the administrative deputy director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, and Professor Liu Yuanbiao, the deputy secretary general of the Jiangsu Rehabilitation Medicine Association, A total of more than ten Chinese and American rehabilitation medicine experts were invited to discuss and share new practices and advanced experiences in rehabilitation medicine on current hot issues in rehabilitation medicine. The sub forum was divided into two and a half days

The main theme of the forum on the afternoon of July 7th was to explain the current hot topics in rehabilitation medicine. In the first half, Professor Qu Wenchun, from the Mayo Medical Center in the United States, as the director of regenerative medicine and pain medicine at Mayo Medical Center and the chairman of the spine research committee of Mayo Medical Center, brought a new perspective on rehabilitation treatment to the domestic rehabilitation medicine colleagues present on "research on regenerative rehabilitation medicine and treatment", which is also the most cutting-edge new technology in China, It is worthwhile for everyone to continue thinking and trying to apply it in clinical practice after the meeting

Professor Edward R. Laskowski from the Mayo Medical Center in the United States, as the director of rehabilitation therapy at the Mayo Medical Center, discussed the current situation, development history, and future clinical and scientific research directions of sports medicine for the elderly in the United States, using personal cases to draw attention to sports rehabilitation for the elderly, which is also a growing content of sports rehabilitation in China

After two experts in the United States pointed out the two important development directions of rehabilitation medicine in the United States, Professor Yang Weixin from Suzhou Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University and Professor Wang Tong, Deputy Administrative Director of the Rehabilitation Center of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, respectively elaborated on the two most popular rehabilitation treatment technologies in China, from clinical to scientific research, and from basic to case studies, The application prospects of musculoskeletal ultrasound and electrical stimulation were explained in simple terms

The second half was hosted by Zhou Mingcheng, President of Shanghai First Rehabilitation Hospital, and Wu Jian, Vice President of Jingjiang People's Hospital. Professor Yang Jian, Director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of Xuhui Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, explained to everyone in detail the application and expert consensus of sports rehabilitation in the first domestic stroke patients with coronary heart disease through specific patient case videos, Professor Lv Zeping, Vice President of the Rehabilitation Hospital Affiliated to the National Rehabilitation Aids Research Center, presented his team's cognitive function assessment research based on gait feature models over the years, breaking the limitations of traditional cognitive function assessment and exploring rehabilitation assessment options from the perspective of clinical practical applications

Finally, Professor Liu Yuanbiao presided over the first Sino American Rehabilitation Summit Dialogue. All the speakers and moderators, as guests of the dialogue, had a heated discussion on the management of rehabilitation medicine and multidisciplinary cooperation with clinical practice. Experts from the two countries described the difficulties and current situation of their experiences through their own practical experiences, during which there were differences and collisions in rehabilitation medicine and health policies between the two countries, However, it also provides valuable experience for the progress of their respective medical management in the future

On the morning of July 8th, the forum focused on "sports medicine" and launched an academic exchange between China and the United States. In the first half of the forum, Professor Zhan Yiyang, Vice President of the People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province, and Professor Wang Chuhuai, Director of the Rehabilitation Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, presided over the forum. Professor Chen Shiyi, Director of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery of Huashan Hospital, Affiliated to Fudan University, and Chairman of the Sports Medical Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, gave an opening lecture. Professor Wang Chuhuai, from the Rehabilitation Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Sun Yat sen University, also shared his experience in basic scientific research and clinical application on the basic rehabilitation issue of posture control through the clinical research results of his team

The second half of the forum was co chaired by Guo Hangyuan, dean of Shaoxing Hospital of Zhejiang University, and Xie Yuxiao, director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of Beijing Sino Japanese Friendship Hospital. Firstly, the two presidents launched their respective views and discussions on the status and value of rehabilitation medicine in the hospital from the perspective of hospital leadership. As the Vice President of the North District of Suzhou Municipal Hospital and a physician in sports medicine, President Hao Yuefeng shared his clinical experience in sports medicine, which he "never prescribed drugs" to patients, and explained the eight concepts of sports medicine he had created one by one, pointing out some directions for the practical development of sports medicine in the future

Professor Qu Wenchun and Professor Edward R. Laskowski from the Mayo Medical Center in the United States shared their American experiences on the methods of musculoskeletal ultrasound evaluation in sports medicine and the clinical problems of sports induced lumbar injury, especially specific musculoskeletal ultrasound application programs, opening up new ideas and inspiring everyone to innovate independently and make full use of visual weapons to solve practical clinical problems

Finally, under the auspices of President Hao Yuefeng, the sub forum speakers, Professor Wang Tong and Professor Liu Yuanbiao, as well as Professor Qu Wenchun, Professor Edward R. Laskowski, Professor Rahul Kashyap of the ICU, and Professor Dong Yue of the Department of Anesthesiology from the Mayo Medical Center, had a heated discussion on the staffing of rehabilitation medicine, the development of patient centered rehabilitation services, and multidisciplinary cooperation, and answered the questions of the audience

The two and a half day sub forum, full of dry goods, attracted the attention and active participation of rehabilitation medicine colleagues from home and abroad, with a total of more than 400 participants. Both inside and outside the venue, during tea breaks, everyone enthusiastically sought advice and discussed with rehabilitation medicine experts from China and the United States. We look forward to more cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in the field of clinical and scientific research, as well as health management in the future
