This session is designed to set the tone for a week of events, outlining the state of healthcare in Singapore and future trends in healthcare.

A journey to a leading AMC

This course will introduce attendees to the evolution of New Health and how it has become one of the leading academic medical centers today.

Understanding Medical finance

This course provides an overview of the principles and practices of health care accounting and financial management. The main goal is to impart administrative and managerial knowledge of financial and accounting theory, as well as the techniques required to manage healthcare organizations in today's healthcare market.

Highlights of Health Informatics and Digital transformation

This course covers the key components of IT system planning and implementation in healthcare organizations. The course will introduce information technology and data architecture planning, as well as the role of electronic health records, clinical support systems, databases, interfaces, and necessary system and data governance considerations. Through New Health's experience in healthcare IT planning, participants will learn about the issues and challenges encountered when addressing interoperability, patient safety, data security and more.

Patient experience and participation

Participants were introduced to the Global Patient Safety Action Plan to help them understand how to eliminate avoidable harm in healthcare. Participants will learn how to prioritize strategic initiatives in order to take practical action to strengthen interconnected health systems.

Medical Quality Management

This course will discuss patient safety and its challenges that contribute to the burden of injury in the healthcare system. It includes the role of leadership in promoting a healthy and psychologically safe organization, strategies to advocate for speaking out on unsafe behavior, the roles and responsibilities of organizations and individuals in improving workplace safety and outcomes, and a strategic framework for developing a culture of justice.

Developing and building a hospital culture

Participants will be exposed to examples of other hospital cultures, and participants will have the opportunity to translate the vision and mission of their hospital into actionable steps to build the envisioned culture.

Leadership in a changing healthcare environment

This course provides participants with a holistic view of leadership and people management in a healthcare environment. At the end of the session, participants will be able to define the strategic role and function of human resources in creating an effective work environment. Participants will be exposed to high performance personal leadership theories and practices, such as servant leadership and mindfulness, as well as effective communication development.

Planning, designing, supplying and operating a hospital

The course will introduce how hospitals operate, with a focus on operations management, procurement and supply chain management, and infrastructure planning and design.

Purchasing and Supply Chain Management

This course will give participants a deeper understanding of supply chain management in healthcare systems. The scope of the module will include how the various elements of the supply chain work together to ensure the right supply and services are delivered to healthcare organisations. The course will also discuss the role of various stakeholders in effective supply chain management. Participants will also learn about the procurement cycle and basic governance as well as the challenges of managing the healthcare supply chain.

Research and innovation ecosystem to advance patient care and healthcare transformation

This course is designed to give participants an understanding of how research and innovation areas can be integrated to improve the quality of patient care and ultimately transform healthcare. The session will provide insights on new health, the Duke-NUS research and innovation ecosystem, and relevant national research and innovation resources that support healthcare research and innovation.

Healthcare Enterprise Risk Management

This course will provide participants with basic knowledge and understanding of ERM and a holistic view of the risks in their organisation. The course will also cover external and internal healthcare operating environments, examples of different types of risk, different risk handling strategies, and mitigation options. At the end of the course, participants will understand the relationship between enterprise risk management and vis-a-vis traditional risk management.

Disease Outbreak Management

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of preparedness and the critical role that leadership plays in managing outbreaks. This course will provide insights into the role of leaders in supporting their infection prevention and control teams in managing health care-related outbreaks in their institutions.
