The aim of Medical English Training Overseas is to provide comprehensive training and support to medical professionals to overcome the challenges posed by medical English exchange and international cultural integration. To help medical professionals improve and consolidate their oral English skills to prepare for studying abroad and participating in international activities. Enhance participants' cultural understanding and adaptability to overseas hospitals, and provide a foundation for future international cooperation.

Project theme: 2024 Overseas Medical English Training Project

Duration: 13-week course, twice a week, each time three hours (2 hours)

Course Outline:

Admission of patient

• Admission of patients and medical terminology: the body

• Patient comfort, wounds and burns and medical terms: prefix (inverse/anterior), antonym

Make observations

• Vital signs and medical terminology: nose

• Level of consciousness and medical terminology: arms, wrists and nails

Patient interview

• Ask about the patient's health and medical terminology: critical illness

• Funnel questions (continuous questions) and medical terms: internal organs

Medical history

• Understand the patient's history and medical terminology: medical condition

A brief introduction to adverse reactions and medical terminology: human systems

Talk about pain

• Describe pain and medical terms: medical terms for pain

• Assessment of pain and medical terminology: face

Examine the patient

• Allow the patient to relax during the examination. Medical term: brain and stroke

Birth screening and medical terminology: the female reproductive system

Interpretation test

• Perform blood tests and medical terms: blood

• Soothing language, diabetes tests and medical terms: eyes and ears

Discuss the diagnosis

• Explain new diagnostic and medical terms with everyday terms

• Describe cardiovascular disease and the medical term: heart

Explain treatment

• Explain treatment (asthma) and medical terms: chest

Discuss surgery

• Surgical and medical terms: pancreas

Preoperative care

• Discuss risks and medical terms: liver and gallbladder

Postoperative care

• Postoperative handover and medical terminology: head and neck

• Recommended lifestyle changes and medical terms: feet and ankles

Oncology and hospice care

• Oncology and medical terms: stomach

• Hospice and medical terms: back and spine
