MD Anderson Specialist Observation Project

  --Hospital Introduction--

  M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, founded in 1941 and located in Houston, southern Texas, is an affiliated hospital of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. As a world-renowned oncology specialist hospital, M D. Anderson is one of the three early comprehensive cancer treatment centers designated by the 1971 American Cancer Action Plan, and is currently one of the 39 comprehensive cancer treatment centers designated by oncology societies.

  According to US News and World Report rankings, MD Anderson Cancer Center has been named the best cancer hospital in the United States by US News and World Report for many consecutive years, and ranks first in specialized fields such as colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cancer.

  --Project Introduction--

  The MD Anderson Specialist Observation Program aims to provide clinical doctors, medical researchers, and other medical professionals with an observation experience to enhance their learning and exposure to oncology research or related clinical specialties.

  Project time

  The duration of this observation project may vary from 6 to 90 days, depending on the trainees' goals and objectives as well as the department's resources. The duration of annual participation in observation shall not exceed 90 consecutive days.

  Observation Department

  Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain, Oncology, Cancer Medicine, Imaging Diagnosis, Internal Medicine, Pathology/Laboratory Medicine, Proton Therapy, Radiology Oncology, Surgery.

  --Application conditions--

  Applicants must meet the following qualification criteria in order to apply for the MD Anderson Observation Program:

  Must be at least 18 years old.

  Employed, currently appointed, or studying at an academic or medical institution.

  Their institution approved this visit. The institution must provide written support for the visit, outlining specific details and expected outcomes.

  Meet the English proficiency requirements.

  After being admitted, one must have a visa applicable to this project. MD Anderson Cancer Center does not provide visa guarantees.

  During the observation period, students will bear all their own expenses. During the observation period, there is no salary, so transportation, housing, health insurance, and living expenses are the responsibility of the students themselves.

  --How to apply--

  Applicants must obtain approval from their faculty or supervisor to lead their visits and apply for open projects listed on the MD Anderson Observation Program website. The application submitted for each individual observation project will be subject to review and will be conditionally accepted based on the available resources and nature of the access. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee eligibility for observation. The application approval process takes at least four weeks. Please plan your project start date with your project leader.
